The Petit Salon

The Petit Salon, currently serving as a billiard room, holds the name « Little Salon » in the recollections of painters Taillebourg and Voyer from 1905-1906. Like the Salon des Batailles, it extended the central salon during grand receptions. This room features a magnificent 18th-century fireplace designed in 1750 by the renowned ornamental sculptor Nicolas Pineau (1684-1754) for the Château d’Asnières. It was acquired by the d’Argenson family in the late 19th century during the dismantling of the Château d’Asnières decor. The rocaille-style panel decorations displayed various family portraits, including one of the Countess d’Argenson by Jean-Marc Nattier (1743), portraits of René-Louis, Marquis d’Argenson (the count’s brother), Louis de Voyer, and Madame de La Porte, the marquis de Voyer’s cousin, all anonymous and preserved by the descendants.
